Finding The Fun in Food

My husband and I recently took a trip down to my hometown, Lancaster, TX, which is just outside of Dallas. I was so excited to show him the historic town square and the famous local bakery, Lovin’ Oven.

This is a place that has been around for decades and not only does it have the best desserts, but it is also tied to so many positive childhood memories for me. As I walked in the door, the smell and décor immediately took me right back to being 10 years old and picking out what color frosted cookie I wanted. As we sat around and ate our cookies and cupcakes, we reminisced with my parents about all the themed birthday cakes I’d gotten from there over the years from a barbie cake to a swimming pool cake.

This is a reminder that food is so much more than nourishment, it provides us with joy and nostalgia! I hope that you can find the joy in food and let yourself connect to the fun of eating. What is a food that is tied to a positive memory for you? I encourage you to get that food sometime this week and find the fun in food again!
