ATX Visits Houston

This past month, ATX Nutritional Counseling took a trip down to Houston, Texas to learn more about the eating disorder resources available there. Working in the outpatient setting, we are passionate about connecting our patients with the best resources. By visiting treatment centers and meeting with their clinicians and staff, we can get a better understanding of how the program runs and what patients can expect if they decide to go there.

Our first stop was just north of Houston in Conroe to visit Monte Nido. At this location, they have Clementine which is a residential program for adolescent females aged 12-17 as well as a residential program for adult females (18 and older). The location is tucked away in a beautiful, wooded area and the facilities are homes that have been converted to treatment centers, so they provide a welcoming and cozy environment.

Next, we visited Eating Recovery Center of Houston where they provide intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization programming for both adults and adolescents. Having worked at the Dallas location, it was exciting to see some of the nutrition activities that I used to do with patients still being implemented today! One of my favorites was having patients create placemats for meals with encouraging messaging and motivations for recovery.

Thank you to both facilities for providing such a warm welcome and helping us to learn more about your programs! We are thankful to all the staff that works so hard to provide the best care and support for their patients in their journey to recovery.
